Božava through time – Summer awakening of an island place

On the first day of summer, June 21, Božava – a quiet place on Dugi otok, where time moves slower and the days smell of pine and salt – opened its history like an old book with yellowed pages. At 10 AM, when the sun had already sprinkled the stone with its gold, a guided tour began from the very center of the village. It was a walk through time, a journey along paths that remember the steps of fishermen, the sounds of children playing, the chatter of women mending nets in the shade, and stories that were never written down but remained – in the stone, in a glance, in the silence between the waves. Visitors, guided by the voice of a local expert, stepped through Božava’s past: discovering landmarks that may seem modest at first glance, but carry entire worlds within. Stone thresholds, small churches in the shade of pines, hidden views of the open sea – everything became the stage for a quiet, summer tale. Today, Božava is not just a place – it is a prism through which time refracts, where past and present mirror each other, and summer, just born, carries the promise of new stories. The event was supported by the Žvelta Association, the Božava Local Tourist Board, Bistro Propela, Restaurant Veli Kamik, and Restaurant Boxavia.
