Ethno house Old mill

Nowadays, when most olive growers produce olive oil using modern methods, olives are processed in the traditional way in Božava.

Olive oil production

First, fruit preparation procedures are carried out for oil separation, removal of leaves and twigs, after which the olives are submerged in the sea. Sea salt is not only a natural preservative, but also a basic nutritional seasoning.

The olives are first ground and crushed in a stone mill, and then they are put into sports and placed in a press. After the initial stage of preparation is completed, the oil is extracted on hydraulic open presses. Due to the great interest of visitors in traditional olive processing and old crafts in general, the Ethno house Stari Mlin was opened in 2023.
